Our October meeting had 20 members attend.
The meeting slides have been uploaded to our documents library. Log in to check them out.
Mark Miquelon led the meeting.
Some topics of discussion were:
-Our workday in September on Mt Rosa, Nelson's trail 672, was a success. We will be going back on Saturday, October 19 to do more work on the trail. Sign up on our calendar event: Trail Maintenance on Nelsons Trail (672) on Mt Rosa - 10/19/2024
- We helped the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) on Wednesday, September 18. They had folks going up to Jones Park for a couple of weeks and needed supplies hauled up to Jones Park (Captain Jacks 667 trail). Although they had far more than we could help carry, we were able to carry about 80 lbs worth up to Jones Park on our dirt bikes.
- Our workday at Penrose Commons on Saturday, September 21 was a huge success. We partnered with several other clubs and the BLM and opened up 3 new single track trails!
- We have a work day scheduled on 26 October at Texas Creek to install our last Yamaha grant sign. We will also work with the BLM on some trail maintenance and probably get in a ride there as well. Check out our calendar event to sign up: Workday at Texas Creek - 10/26/2024
-CMTRA will be attending the Colorado Springs Endurocross event at World Arena on Saturday, October 12. Tim Hilton sponsors an EX VET Over 50 class and he will be racing in that class. The two racers we were going to sponsor, Ryan Friend and Jeremy Andrew, will not be racing. However, we will still be setting up our EZ-Up in the pit area next to Tim and manning a table with our banner, flyers and stickers to promote CMTRA. We'll also be setting up a table inside the event for the night show to promote CMTRA as well. If you want to come out during the day, you ONLY need to purchase a Pit Pass. These will be available at the Arena and are good for the night show as well. You do not need both tickets! We'll also be tailgating in our pit area from noon until about 2pm, and then again from about 3:30pm until the Arena reopens around 5pm. Come join us for some food and beverages! See our calendar event for more information: Colorado Springs Endurocross - 10/12/2024
- Cory Sutela spoke about progress being made for the Jones Part initiative. They have revised their original document to include language for the inclusion of possible new trails and also to keep the decision making process in the hands of the land manager, not diverting it to the Forest Service for all decision making. This is progress. Thanks, Cory!
- Our member spotlight was Kent Sundgren. Kent is a lifelong rider, both dirt and street. He's been a member of CMTRA for a very long time. He talked about his positive experience at this year's Colorado 600. He strongly encourages anyone to attend in the future, as they make it fun for all riders, regardless of skill level. Thanks, Kent!
If you've been doing any trail maintenance on your own or with your riding groups, let your Executive Team members know so they can log your hours and points.
